Increase content width in Independent Publisher 2
-
I can seemingly decrease the content width, i.e. below the default 740px, but not increase it above 740px?
In essence, I want to get rid of the sidebar but increase the content width to (say) 900px.
How do I do this please?

Hello Brian,
Which site do you need help with? I cannot see any sidebar on http://bkthisandthat.org.uk/.Are you talking about https://efpunter.wordpress.com/?
If yes, then use this CSS to increase the content width to 900px:
.has-sidebar .site-main { max-width: 900px; /*change this value if you must*/ }To get rid of the sidebar:
1. Try to do this using the Site Customizer.
i. Open your Site Customizer.
ii. On the sidebar of the customizer, click on Widgets.
iii. Now click on Sidebar.
iv. And, delete all the widgets from there.
v. Finally, click Save & Publish.2. If the above solution does not work, try hiding it by using this CSS:
#secondary { display: none; }Hope these help 🙂

Hello otpidusprime.
Firstly, sorry for the confusion .. it is bkthisandthat.org.uk. I have no need for a sidebar, and I had already removed the single widget that I had in the previous theme that I was using. I was just trying to indicate, not very well obviously, that I do not need any allowance in terms of space for a sidebar.
I tried your suggested CSS customisation to increase the content width to 900 but it had no effect I am afraid.

Here’s the CSS for http://bkthisandthat.org.uk/:
.content-area { max-width: 900px; }Let us know if this helps 🙂
