increase content width in tonal theme
-
Hi, I’d just like to increase the size of the photos in my post (excluding gallery posts)
I’m not sure if I should use css to do this and if so, how to do it.
Please can you tell me what I should do. I tried inserting a new value in the media width box and saving but no difference.
Many thanks
peter

Hi Peter!
Just to make sure we’re on the same page, you would like an image like the one shown here to take up more of the width:
Is that correct?
Can you try setting that image as the featured image for the post? Here’s a comparison of featured images vs. ones within the post:

Hi and many thanks for your reply.
Yes, ideally I do want the width just like your example. I have done this now with posts that have a gallery and it works perfectly.
please see:
http://pskphoto.com/2015/02/02/london-chinatown-again/But when I try with a single image post, I now get this:
http://pskphoto.com/2015/02/21/listening-to-god/What I’d like is for the captioned image to be the size of the ‘featured image’ and the featured image not there at all. Sorry a bit hard to explain.

Hi Peter,
Can you try placing this under Appearance -> Customize -> CSS?
.center-block { max-width: 1200px; }We can change that max width to whatever you would like, and it should still work. A few notes:
1. It will change the size of the featured image for each post as well
2. You will need to manually go into the Edit Posts screen for each of your posts and drag the corners of the image to a larger size like this:
3. This shouldn’t interfere with how your site appears on mobile devices.
Let me know if that achieves what you’re looking for!

Hi Jeremey,
That has worked perfectly. Its now just a matter of going into past posts and making the same change.
Many thanks indeed for your quick response and help! :)
Peter.
