Increase header style

Hi, My blog is http://sarahunderhill.wordpress.com – I would like to increase the size of my header. I’m using Modularity Lite, and on the theme preview, it shows a really large picture. But when I go to the header menu, I only have the option of a 950×200 image. Is there something I’m missing or is this one of those situations where you would need to know CSS? (I REALLY wish I knew how to do more custom things!!!!)

In order to make the header any larger than 950×200 you will have to have CSS editing experience and be willing to pay for an annually renewable CSS editing upgrade and then do the work.
If you have CSS editing experience, you can get the paid custom CSS upgrade and renew it annually. It will allow you to stylize the appearance of themes you find here > Appearance > Themes, but it does not allow you to change the functionality, by editing the underlying template. Also note that CSS is theme specific, so you cannot use the CSS stylesheets from other themes with the themes here at wordpress.COM.
Since there is no official Staff support for the CSS upgrade, and precious little Volunteer support, I recommend that you don’t buy the upgrade unless you have at least moderate understanding of HTML and CSS because you must be prepared to do the work on your own.
If you are considering purchasing the upgrade, you can go to Appearance > Edit CSS. There wordpress has provided a preview function where you can try before you buy.

The “really large picture” you can see on the theme preview is the ML slideshow, not its header.
You can add a header image higher than 200px by taking advantage of the ML Welcome Message.

@panaghiotisadam – thanks, i tried andrea after posting and figuring out i probably will not be attempting css b’c the header is a little larger. i’ll check out the link though and may head back to ML later.
@timethief – thanks for advice. yeah, technology doesn’t tend to be my strong point! :) i’m better than many, but nowhere near understanding all of the complicated lingo! thanks for the insight!
