    Is there any way of changing the size of the title font without increasing the size of every other heading on the page?

    The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    Yes, you can increase the size of the title font (and the site description if you would like) using the following CSS:

    h1#site-title {
    font-size: 40px;
    }

    h2#site-description {
    font-size: 20px;
    }

    The second part (h2…) is optional depending on whether or not you want to increase the size of the site description. The font-size numbers (40 and 20 respectively) can be adjusted up or down to your liking. Just navigate to Dashboard -> Appearance -> Customize -> CSS and paste that code.

    Also, I noticed you have banner advertisements on your blog. We do have an advertising program called WordAds, which you can read more about here:

    WordAds

    Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed. For full details, please see:

    Advertising

    http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/

    If you require other advertising, you might be interested in a self-hosted (WordPress.org) installation. There are no restrictions on advertising if you setup a self-hosted WordPress.org blog instead of a WordPress.com blog, but there are some added responsibilities. Please see this link to learn about the differences:

    WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

    Would you mind removing the advertisements from your blog if you plan on continuing to use WordPress.com or applying to be part of our WordAds program?

    Hi Jeremy thanks for your reply. I’ll remove the adds but that’s a deal clincher for me – ridiculous that you don’t let paying customers monetize their site in their own fashion. Was already unsatisfied with the lack of freedom in the design platform and this pretty much seals the deal. Thank god I went for the free trial and registered my DNS somewhere else. Will remove the Ad’s today and move my site on the weekend.

    Regards,
    Oscar.

    Hey Oscar,

    I completely understand. Here are some additional resources for moving your blog to a self-hosted WordPress.org site:

    Let me know if you need anything else!

    Also I was unable to use flash banners on wordpress.com would this type of coding be allowed on wordpress.org? Last but not least would people need to re subscribe/re follow if I did a transfer? (Either manual or guided)

    Hey Oscar!

    One question how does wordpress make money from the wordpress.org model?

    WordPress.org is actually an open-source software that we contribute to (not owned by Automattic, Inc – the owners of WordPress.com). Obviously, it’s mostly based off WordPress.com, but it’s powered by hundreds of volunteers and developers that contribute their time and energy. As a result, it’s completely free. There’s a network of theme and plugin developers that monetize their services by helping users to improve and modify their blogs to their liking, but at its core, WordPress.org is 100% free.

    Also I was unable to use flash banners on wordpress.com would this type of coding be allowed on wordpress.org?

    Yes! Flash banners are not permitted on WordPress.com, but they will work perfectly on WordPress.org blogs.

    Last but not least would people need to re subscribe/re follow if I did a transfer? (Either manual or guided)

    Once you have set-up your self-hosted WordPress.org blog. I can transfer your current subscribers for you. You would just need to download and install our Jetpack plugin. This plugin opens up a ton of features that are available at WordPress.com on your self-hosted blog by connecting it with your WordPress.com account (it won’t limit what you can do at all though). Instructions can be found here:

    http://jetpack.me/support/getting-started-with-jetpack/

    Once you get the blog set-up on your self-hosted servers, let me know. I’ll transfer your subscribers!
