Increase spam comments

    The Akismet filter is working fine keeping spam off my site, and I am comfortable with my comments settings. I have, though, noticed a considerable uptick in spam comments that I have to delete from my Akismet filter. Although it appears I’m getting more traffic, I know the number is false because it corresponds with more spam.

    Does blogging less somehow invite spammers? Are there strategies to making a blog less appealing to web-crawlers looking for spam opportunities?

    Howdy!

    Unfortunately, spam crawlers are very hard to predict and prevent from ever reaching your site. There really isn’t an algorithm of blog and comment less equaling less spam. However, that’s great that Akismet is catching these comments! The best option is to keep deleting them from the Spam trap and mark any comments that skip through as spam to help train Akismet.
