Increase width of theme or get wider theme

The blog:

Modification of the CSS is not allowed.
So, could anyone recommend a wide theme or some hack or another?
Thank you all.

Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
In order to utilise custom CSS – the site would need to be on the premium plan.
Can you tell me what you’re looking to change? We may be able to offer additional insights.
Many thanks.

Thank you for the quick reply.
Like the title says, I want to change the width of the posts.
If you go to the blog, you will see a lot of empty space.
Even without the sidebar, the post width is too narrow.
Is there a setting or perhaps another theme that can make the posts wider?
Thanks again.

The blog page usually has a limited width because of readability. You could check out the full-width themes, but their blog posts will probably be narrower too.
Have you checked out at Spearhead? Maybe you’ll like that one better:

Would removing your sidebar help? However the width is mostly set as it is because so many people use hand held devices to view the interweb.

I’d just go with a block-based theme. You can’t use wide-align or full-width on paragraphs (they can get hard to read that way) but it certainly would make sense to do that with your code blocks, and they will read better that way since folks won’t have to scroll right so much.
Bear in mind: sometimes when you switch to a block theme, it’ll replace your front page. You’d just need to set it back to latest posts, as you like.
Given you’re just using posts so far, I’d recommend picking your theme based on your font choice and menu placement. Otherwise, all of the newest themes will support wider code blocks, even if the paragraphs are kept at a reader-friendly width.

Oh, and I didn’t include how-tos with block alignment: you’ll just see an alignment option on the syntax/code block once you’re in a theme that supports wide and full-width blocks. It’ll look like this, but with a code block instead of course:
https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/image-block/#align-imagesNor did I clarify how to set your front page back to posts. That’s Customize > Front Page, which will show up if needed after you make the switch, or if you publish pages on the site.
If you need help with any of this, let us know. Cheers :)
