Increasing traffic?
-
Ok, so I desire to get a bit more traffic or views to my site, but as with all things concerning my site, I like it to be natural or organic.
I was looking into the Amazon affiliate program to see if I could get a few pennies towards the cost of yearly domain registration or something, but I do not have enough traffic to do it or any other program. At the same time, I don’t want my site to be revenue based or a big ad as that is not the nature or why I created it.I launched last October and have had a few folks tell me I should look into getting some revenue for my hard work. I have been resistive to that message until a couple of days ago when the pressure got to be a bit much and I promised to look into it at least. I have fulfilled that promise. I’d like to do something in that direction keeping it organic and all. Lack of traffic is the issue.
I am continually thankful for all who venture on and take a peek.Anyway, as for increasing traffic, going down the support list:
Tell people in your social networks = I don’t go near those things! No thank you! They frighten me to death.
Make content visible to search engines = Got that covered a long time ago.
Pay for traffic to your site = Uh, I’ll take a very huge “no thank you” on that.
Bug your real life friends = Not many of those for me, mostly acquaintances and already handled in a “non-bugging” way.
Use appropriate tags = In fact, I am making some improvements by updating my tags. (I was too generic). I recently realized it. Why I didn’t think of it before, I don’t know. (I feel I also have tons more to learn about this blogging stuff, so that’s one reason).
Read and comment on other blogs = This is hard as I do not really have much time to do that. I basically only have weekends and that’s when I work on my own blog and other duties. I’ve tried to do this one, but I just don’t have time. I wish I could do more on this.
Link to other blogs = This can only be done with permission and I have one that I occasionally link to.
Let people know about your posts = This says use sparingly; I have that covered. I’ve used it about twice since last October. (That’s the only opportunities I’ve had and one was yesterday)
Blog regularly = I try. I’m at about once or twice per week right now on average.Anyone have any other ideas for increasing traffic that lean towards being organic so to speak?
If there is nothing then so be it, that’s fine too. I had originally scheduled to shut down my site around July of next year anyway or sooner depending on other things in life as far as I know for now.Thank you.

Resolved – I have found that there is nothing more I can do for this. It was worth asking though just in case. So it just takes more waiting is all. My traffic may not even ever break 40 visits, I’m ok with that. It is what it is.

For bloggers who use the search box in the future and locate this thread.
To gain search engine attention I recommend that you start publishing posts (not pages) https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-vs-page/ frequently. That’s because it can take weeks for search engines to index content in a new blog and/or to re-index content under a new URL.
