Incredibly slow for new posts`
-
WordPress this morning is being incredibly slow in opening the Write screen (for New Post), and then in saving the post. Also, it seems to hang onto a draft copy, which is very difficult to get rid of—publishing the post a few times seems to do it, but each time I publish involves a wait of 2 minutes or so. Other sites, FWIW, are responding normally. WordPress is always pretty slow, but this is exceptional.
I attempted to send a Feedback, but when I pressed “Send” the send button vanished and the Feedback remained in the box, so I don’t know whether it was sent or not. Button never returned, so I came here.

I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.2 running on Win XP Home Edition. I’ll switch to IE to see if it’s any better. Maybe only I am experiencing slowness in WordPress (here in Baltimore and at home in Monterey).
And the Feedback problem was quite weird. As was the problem of the persistent draft.

I did do a tracert to your IP address from both my terminal and dnsstuff but didn’t notice anything weird.

Leisureguy,
I was having the same problem with a persistent draft after using the “save and continue” function. I’ve published my post, but it doesn’t appear publicly, only when I log in. My blog isn’t set up to post privately by default either. I’m using Firefox 1.5.0.10 on Win XP Pro, and I’m not having problems on other sites here in Virginia.

Interesting. I had the same problem today. Not only it was slow, but because I noticed an extra, draft version of my last published post, I deleted the draft and my published post disappeared as well. {posted about this problem here, FYI: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=8916&page&replies=4}
Not sure if it helps, but I’m using firefox 2 on Linux/Ubuntu.

hroswith, the same thing happened to me a few days ago: post was published, but I still had a draft when I opened “New Post.” I deleted the draft, and the published post was also deleted.
FWIW, the message in the bottom bar of Firefox that displays for the long waits is “waiting for leisureguy.wordpress.com”. Once that ended with the “Oops, server error” message, and I’m pretty sure that wasn’t caused by my browser. :)
Really, there’s some problem that’s not in my browser that is causing the slowness. Maybe it’s not to be found, but it’s there.

I’m having the same problems, and blogging a photo from Flickr failed as well. The dashboard in general seems very slow. I’m on a Mac, OS 10.3.9, using Camino 1.03, and I have DSL. Other non-WP sites are fine.

Just pulling up sites seems to be slow today. At least they do now.
There’s a sticky: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic.php?id=8928

Well, i don’t know if my two cents will help. But i’m in Montréal, Que. And it took an hour to finally post, 15 minutes ago. I’m using Firefox 2.0.0.2 and Windows Xp Home ed. It’s the second time it happens. I had trouble yesterday two, but it didn’t take an hour. I have several thumbs open to other sites and the refresh rate was fast for them. But not for my WordPress page. I learned to be patient.

Metaphor….. WordPress is like the sound crew for a rock band, the band needs to include the sound crew as a member of the band, then the sound crew needs to be loyal to the band on stage.
Jimmy Page, was a primadonna, the cash box and all the money was stolen, when Jimmy , abandon the band, and did a guitar solo, by himself, trying to form a direct alliance with the audience.
The audience did not pay…., to see just a guitar solo, or just Jimmy page, the proper response, is for the sound crew to shut the guy down.
That video, was the first real music video, it is called “the song remeins the same.”
If and when the sound crew, roadies, and caterers, are not ready to put on a phenomenal show, they need to tell us in advance, so we never, ever, disappoint our audience.
“Dominate your audience and offer them something priceless.”
Offer them thenselves, in unity with everybody else in the room.

I am trying to publish my blog and for the past 20 minutes it has been updating. Is there anything I can do?
