indenting individual lines

I have unsuccessfully tried the information at “Writing and Formatting Poetry” and have been unable to indent some of the lines. I obviously am doing something wrong, but don’t know what. The poem appears perfect on the edit page, but as soon as I hit “preview” or “publish” every line in the poem lines up evenly on the left margin. I have also tried using the pre-formatted style, which I do not like, and inserting pictures of the poem, which either come out too small or too blurry. Come on, it’s got to be easier than this!
