Indenting Paragraphs

  Why is it impossible to indent the first line of a paragraph on my blog posts? The tab button doesn’t work. I have tried simply using the space bar, and it looks fine as I write it, but as soon as it is published the indents disappear. I have tried using the classic block editor; I can shift the entire paragraph to the right, but I still can’t indent the first line. I find this incredibly frustrating; whatever I post looks amateurish when it lacks the indent. I am surprised that this has never been corrected, as I can’t be the only one to have complained about it. Would appreciate help on this.
