Independent customizable default Post settings
-
I’ve asked in the Support forums whether this is possible, and it looks like it is not possible currently. I would like to be able to change the default Post settings from “draft, public, and immediately” to something else like “draft, private, and immediately”, regardless to whether I have my blog set to private or public in Privacy Settings (independent of blog privacy settings).
This will have two benefits:
1. Protecting users’ privacy and helping them feel safe while posting on their blog, because although their blog can be public and indexable, every post can be private by default if they choose to make it so. This way, if a user makes a mistake, then it is simply that a post intended for the public is simply not “published” or public yet, rather than have a potentially catastrophic mistake of publishing a “private” post and forgetting to change the setting to Private.
2. If a user is very pressed on time, for example, they will be able to click New Post, Ctrl+V to paste their post quickly, then click Publish and move on, without having to worry about the distraction of the settings. So they save time, again while feeling safe, because the worst that can happen is that a public post doesn’t really go public.
And of course, at the end of the day, this would further demonstrate the amount of control that WordPress is able to give to its users, so the company can boast an unprecedented level of control and privacy control for users over their blog and its individual posts.
