Independent Publisher 2: Continue Reading Button

  Hi,

  I’m wondering if it is possible to have the continue reading button while also typing a custom excerpt for a blog post. Currently if I do not type an excerpt there will be a continue reading button but the preview shows more of the post than I want, whereas if I type an excerpt I can’t have a continue reading button.

  Is there a way I can have the continue reading button but also choose how much of the article to display/have a custom excerpt?

  Hi themillzor,

  The read more tag isn’t supported within an excerpt itself so you will need to choose one or the other — they do the same job but are styled differently as you say.

  While there is an option to add an excerpt with Independent Publisher 2 activated, it won’t be output onto the site. You will need to use the read more tag with this particular theme.
