Individual domain name for personal plan

    Dear WordPress Forum

    I am trying to move my blog to an individual address, and it says in the description of the plans that the personal plan offers an individual domain name; however, when I want so select a name, the only option is a premium account… does anyone know why?

    Hi @pigwatchnet, can you go to https://wordpress.com/plans and add a personal plan there? Once you do that, you’ll get a domain credit as well so you can add a domain.

    That was my question, too – just spent an hour to find the answer. It would be useful if you add this info to the personal plan (that you have to pay first, then you can have a custom.com domain name) because I already started looking for other website builders! My first choice was wordpress and you nearly lost me :)

    I think we may just not be approaching this in the same way you were. If you don’t mind giving feedback on where you were clicking, etc, that would be great!

    Sure :)
    First, when I was looking for domain names (.com), it said it was available in the premium plan. However, on the Plans page it says you can have a custom domain with all the paid plans.
    Secondly, when I chose to have a Personal plan (right after selecting the purpose of my site, the theme and the domain name), I ended up with a free plan and a .wordpress.com domain name.
    Thirdly, I wanted to pay for the Personal plan, but it still didn’t say anything about changing my .wordpress.com domain to the one I originally chose.
    So this is why I thought I could have a custom domain name with a Premium plan only, which I didn’t want to choose now, I may upgrade to it in a couple of months.
    So I admit I was a bit disappointed at that point and started to look for the answer/other sitebuilders, but it took some time till I find this forum.

    Hope my feedback was useful, didn’t mean to look angry or something in my previous comment, it was just a relief to finally setup my website here.
