infinite scroll seems not to work

Where exactly are you seeing that on your site? You have very few posts for the infinite scroll to work.

I just started building a new site and I chose Twenty Twelve because of the infinite scrolling .
I made one static page as a homepage and I added three separate posts to see if I could scroll down from my homepage through the three posts.
Please can you help me out?

So what’s the address of the site you’re talking about?
What infinite scroll does is that when you have more posts that would fit in one page, instead of seeing a button like “Older posts”, those posts will load after your scroll to the bottom of that first page. You won’t see it working with just three posts on the blog page.

The blog is to remain private with only about 250 invited followers.

That’s up to you. What I mean is that only you get to decide how your blog looks like.
Note that for the infinite scroll to work, you’ll need to have more that seven posts in a page.
