Infinite scroll shows the top stories twice. Bug?
-
When accessing rolfje.wordpress.com, the top story is ‘Solving the JAXB “unexpected element” problem’. When I scroll down using infinite scroll, then at the point where the ‘second page’ would normally start, I see the ‘Solving the JAXB “unexpected element” problem’ post again, as if it starts counting from 0.
After that point the history seems to be ok. It is as if there is an ‘off by one’ bug in the infinite scroll which loads page 0 instead of 1, and 1 instead of 2, etc.
This behavior is consistent between latest Firefox and Safari on Mac OSX Yosemite, both logged in and logged out.
I noticed this today, this problem was not there 2 days ago, and I did not post content or change settings in the last 7 days or so. I did notice an outage yesterday before noon CET, and slow performance in the afternoon (I have an external monitoring tool watching http://www.rolfje.com).
I’d like to know if this is something I can fix, or if it’s somebody other people are also noticing.

Hi,
I wasn’t able to reproduce the effect you describe. Rather, the first post on page 2 is “Open a port in OSX Mavericks’ Firewall,” in my tests. While scrolling down, the page flips to page 2 when that title is about in the middle of my screen. I can also go directly to page 2 and find the post “Open a port in OSX…” at the top. -

On another machine (at work, don’t tell) the problem seems not to happen like musicdoc1 said. Strange that my home laptop shows the problem in both browsers. I’ll check again tonight.

My experience is the same as @musicdoc1. No repeated “top post” on page 2.
PC with Win7Pro/Chrome43
Here’s another forum post with a similar problem. I’ve marked that one for Staff assistance. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/my-posts-are-showing-up-twice-on-my-blog?replies=6

Hello everybody, I just tried again with the same browsers on the same machine and everything looks fine. Maybe one of the WordPress servers was a bit confused, although I’d think I would then not see that on the other browser because the chances of hitting the same server would be slim.
Well at least the problem is gone now. If it reappears, is there anything special I could to to help the WordPress team to find the cause?

Hi rolfje glad you’re all set now. Please do let us know if you have any trouble in the future.
As for anything special, the best thing to do is to report the problem here with the “modlook” tag and we’ll take a look as soon as possible. Providing as much information such as site url, browser info, and what you already tried is always helpful (which you did in your first post, Thanks!)
