Infinite scrolling
-
I have infinite scrolling disabled and have a page layout, yet infinite scroll is back. Why is this? And how can I fix this?

There are many who feel your pain… you’re using the 2010 theme, so if you don’t like the infinite scroll just put some widgets into your footer widget areas. It can be anything, the admin widget, a photo, a copyright notice, some links, an RSS feed… as long as you have footer widgets you’ll be okay.

Actually you don’t have IS on your blog – the “Load More” is to load more Posts – IS is when the Posts are loaded without you doing anything but page down – yes I know nit picking
-
…thought I checked for that. I’m sure when I loaded their blog the bottom dropped out when I scrolled down. Must have been the Mountain Dew.

Feartheseeds: I had already done that previously and they changed it on me just the other day. It was odd.
As well, I used to have a page format – y’know, to see older posts you would have to press… “older posts” and it would bring you to a new page, rather than the IS format it changed too.

@doppelgangershow
They began implementing infinite scroll in February. Have you read this belated announcement?re: load more posts
We’ve also automatically enabled the click-to-load button for blogs where there might be important information in footer widgets, so your visitors always have access to the entirety of your content. http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2012/06/12/to-infinity-and-beyond/ -
@timethief: I had read the announcement after I couldn’t disable it the first time. I just don’t understand the change from a page layout to this scrolling option all of a sudden. Is there no fix for it?

You can disable infinite scroll but if you do then you get the “[load more posts]” and that cannot be removed.
-
Well that’s extremely disappointing to hear.
Oh well. Thank you for your help (everyone really!)

Does removing [load more posts] also prevent the ugly pop-up that appears in the footer when infinite scroll is disabled?

I found that taking a link from one of those scrolled to posts works fine but then your back button does not return you to the place where you left. So it leaves you lost in the sroll world and most users will not be engaged enough to try to find out where they left off.
