info for the future

I have a few wordpress.com blogs ive been experimenting with.
My latest “bigskystory’ offers an online illustrated ongoing story for children and adults who like whimsy and gentle fantasy.
Im hoping over time to build significant traffic to this blog and hope to earn something from adds. however ive been reading tonight about how adds are not allowed. What is it i need to know, in order to plan correctly for the future, given that my goal is to earn from adds, from a site that offers a free ongoing illustrated story ?
My blog will also have a link to an online shop, for related products, or have a shop incorporated in the blog, but my experience so far, with other blogs i’ve tried, is that it very difficult to sell on-line, even if people like my work.
Im happy with wordpress.com and how it works. There are however other blog hosts i tried, which kept contacting me with messages about putting adds my blog, and monetizing my blog.

wordpress.com blogs are not commercial blogs. http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/ No advertising allowed and no using the blog to drive traffic to third party sites is allowed. No shopping carts are allowed.
