Info Page Widgets
-
Hi! I have the Kiore Moana theme. I have all my info page widgets set up but when click save it doesn’t show them in the info page. However when I put them on the default page they show up. I saw another discussion with someone who had the same problem but they figured it out (and didn’t say how). My blog is shinyliney.com.
Thanks

Hi there!
Can you tell me a specific widget you have set up to appear on your Info page that isn’t appearing?
-
The Kiore Moana Header, Categories, About Kiore Moana, Follow my blog and the Search widgets.

Thanks! It looks like you’ve got a few things happening right now. First, let’s copy your information from this page:
https://shineyliney.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=12&action=edit
Into this one instead:
https://shineyliney.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit
This way your URL will be http://shinyliney.com/about/ instead of http://shinyliney.com/about/about/. Once you’ve moved the content and updated the page, you can go ahead and delete the first one.
Then, let’s update the URL for the Info page in the Customizer:
https://shineyliney.wordpress.com/wp-admin/customize.php
Now, to get widgets to appear on your Info page, you need to be using the Info Page Template. There’s a little blurb about this on the theme’s support page here:
https://wordpress.com/themes/kiore-moana/support/
Basically, in the editor, you’ll see a module titled “Page Attributes” underneath your Publish button. In that module, there’s a dropdown for different templates your theme offers. You’ll want to select the Info Page Template for your about page:
https://shineyliney.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=1&action=edit
Once you do that, you’ll be able to edit the widgets in the Main Widget Area and have them appear on your Info Page.
Let me know if you have more questions! :)

Hi! Thank you for writing back. I did all of that on my computer and liked save and publish in the costumier and when I went and looked on my mobile device it was showing everything except for the social media widget. I went back and re-saved and published and then when I looked again none of the widgets were appearing on my about page. Also I can’t seem to figure out how to put my first post into the “adventures” section/category. Sorry for having so many questions. Thank you for your help so far!

I’m happy to help! When I visit your About page:
I see your Categories, About, and Follow Blog widgets. The other widgets in your Main Widget Area have specific visibility rules that are keeping them from displaying:
As for your post issue, it looks like you have both a page and a post titled “My First Post” which of these are you trying to use?

Okay. Thanks. The widgets support page you linked wasn’t super helpful. Is there a limit to how many widgets you can have? Honestly I would be fine with having the social links widget on my main page but when I go back to that (that’s what I started with) it doesn’t show up even on my main page. I figured out the page/post thing as well as the categories. The only thing left is the social links.

There aren’t any limits to the number of widgets you can have in an area. However, if you add too many your pages will start to take a long time to load.
I also missed that I can’t see the search bar on my info or my about.
I believe you mean that your Search widget isn’t appear on your info page? Your visibility settings only have this widget appearing if the page is 404 error page, archives page, or front page.
Can we try clearing out all of your visibility settings for your widgets? This way I can see from the start where everything appears, then we can limit them the way you want.
-
The visibility for the search widget were 404 error page, archive page and info page which I then changed to from page to see if I could get it to show up. I cleared my the visibilitys on all my widgets.

The search widget is currently appearing underneath the pull-out menu shown by clicking the pin icon at the top right-hand corner of the screen. Here’s what I’m seeing:
Is that widget appearing for you as well?

I was out of town and just saw this. Yes thank you. It’s all showing up. Thank you so much for your help.
