inform fellow bloggers of new domain name?

  Hi guys,
  I have recently purchased my own domain through wordpress. I know that people will be re-directed to the new address from my old wordpress address. My question is this: Should I inform my fellow bloggers of the change? Or does it not really matter because of the re-direct?

  It matters, because people who link to you might type in your old URL by mistake. When I got my new domain name I did a blog post on it and, in retrospect, probably should have put it in a visible tagline (“Welcome to raincoaster.com!”) or in a text widget near the top of the sidebar.

  When they type your old URL it will still work, but Technorati will count it towards the old blog, not the “new” one. Technorati sees them as two separate blogs, and you want to build the new one up, not split the links between the new and old one.

  Thanks Raincoaster. Would you mind to clear up one thing? When people type in my old URL, won’t they be re-directed to my new blog name? Or maybe I’m not understanding what you mean by “people who link” to me.

  I like your idea re tagline and text widget.
