Infos about the Amazon Affiliate Program
-
Hi, I´m new to WordPress and want to write a blog about music. My idea is to show cd´s and dvd´s in my blog related to the themes I´ll write about. I need a basic guideline about how I can achieve this.
Ok, my questions:
1. What I´m I suposed to do first? Open an affiliate-account at Amazon.com? Do you know if this is possible also fon non US-residents?
2. There is a plug in for WordPress to manage all this? Isn´t it?Thanks a lot!

Sorry musicaligeraratis, you can’t use Amazon Affiliate on WordPress.com. They don’t allow advertising here.
You need WordPress.org, Blogger or Squarespace, anyone but WordPress.com if you want to make money.
As an aside: Yes, you can open an Amazon Affiliate account for the USA even if you don’t live there. I’m in the UK and I have a US account for my HubPages stuff.

In fact, you CAN be an Amazon Affiliate on wordpress.com, IF and only if the products you refer to are personally reviewed on your blog, e.g. a book review site.
That said, the difference between a real blog with personal reviews and a blog that simply refers to products amazon.com can sometimes be very fine, but you are on the correct side of the line as longs as it is a personal review and not just a copy of the publisher’s review on amazon.com. -

Thanks for updating me. The support pages on what is allowed and what isn’t are a bit grey around exactly how far you can promote things on a WordPress.com blog.
I assume that means I could use contextual links from a book review on my blog here at WordPress.com to Amazon.com. That’s handy to know, thanks.

You’re welcome. And just to be on the safe side, it’s always advisable to ask Support to check the post (review) with the link to see if it falls within the ‘allowed’ advertising TOS or not. I always did that when I was still on wordpress.com.
