Infoway Sticky post

Hello: I have a question about the way the Infoway theme is handling a post of mine that is sticky. Here’s the actual post page:
    http://flaxgoldentales.com/2014/08/16/latest-news/

You can see that there are paragraph breaks between the text. But when the excerpt is seen on the front page at http://flaxgoldentales.com (see down at the bottom) the text all runs together with no breaks. I tried adding
code to the post text but nothing changed.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can modify this? I have the css upgrade. Thank you in advance.

I don’t think you can fix it with CSS, the theme itself pulls through the first bit of the post and puts it into one paragraph regardless of how the original text is formatted. You could try seeing if your theme makes use of excerpts and see if that works.

Thanks for that suggestion. I tried that already and it did work to add the paragraph breaks, but then I lost the orange “Read More” link. This seems like a real oversight.

Does using the more tag do anything different?

You could potentially add your own “read more” link into an excerpt and then style it to appear how you want on the home and archive pages but hide it completely on the single post pages. I can’t tell if this will work because InfoWay is a premium theme, let me know if you want some help to try this out once you’ve tested the more tag option.

Thank you. The paragraph breaks are still not working with the “More” tag. I’ve posted this in the Premium theme forum to see if they can help. Otherwise, I might just put bullets in front of each new section. Thank you for trying to help!

There is another possible work around, although it involves a bit of manual effort so it depends how keen you are to bully your theme into displaying the way you’d like.

The idea is to use the excerpts (like you tried before) but manually include the read more link because the theme doesn’t show it. Try adding this HTML at the end of your post excerpt:

    <a class="read_more" href="http://flaxgoldentales.com/2014/08/18/bonny-becker/">Read More »</a>

The annoying bit is you will have to change the link for each post (if it even works in the first place) – I’m hoping the “read_more” class will mean the default CSS takes care of the styling.

If you try it out, let me know so I can take a closer look, especially if it’s not working 100% as expected.
