InfoWay Theme
-
I don’t know where to post this question. I installed InfoWay theme on my wordpress(dot)com blog. It says it’s highly customisable but will not allow me to change it into a one-column or 2-column content area. It comes with 2 side bars and only a few sentences of the posts show up with a thumbnail. I hate this setting. I want the entire post to show and remove the side bar on the left. I have a feeling this wont work with WordPress(dot)com but thought I’d try my luck before removing it.
Tried contacting the theme designers but you have to bizarrely pay in order to post in their forum.

Sorry I don’t have access to that theme b/c it’s premium; However, to look for column and side bar settings try these places which will vary by theme
- Edit Page/Page Attributes/Templates pull down menu: some themes have column and sidebar choice(s) here
- Edit Page: some themes have a Custom settings page layout panel toward the bottom of the page editor where you can choose the column/sidebar settings for each page; that’s the case on a particular .org – self-hosted theme I use; not sure if it is available here on the .com side
- Appearance/Widgets: sometimes there are widgets that enable columns and sidebars
- At http://theme.wordpress.com/all 220 .com themes are listed and you can sort by features like columns and sidebars (not exactly what you wanted to hear after you’ve paid for a theme!)
- Last, on any page or post you look at make sure you review the Screen Options tab – top right in the editor – to see that what you are looking for is checked
Hope there was some nugget here that was of some use.
Cheers!

Hi @stormintcup, the stuff to the left of the post content is the post metadata (date, author, categories, tags, etc.). The stuff to the right is the sidebar widget area.
Infoway is designed to show only an excerpt of the post on the main blog page, such as your main home page. In some themes, you can create custom excerpts with all the post text, or with more of the post text to override the automatic excerpt, but this does not work in Infoway. That is sort of the long way of saying that there isn’t anyway on this theme to show more of the post content on the main page.
If you wish to hide the sidebar site-wide (all pages and posts) you can use the following CSS. Go to Appearance > Customize > CSS, delete the informational text and paste in the following to see what things will look like.
.sidebar { display: none; } .container_24 .grid_16 { width: 100%; }If you wish to hide the sidebar only from pages that list multiple post (home, categories, tags, archives) then you can use the following instead.
.blog .sidebar, .archive .sidebar { display: none; } .blog .container_24 .grid_16, .archive .container_24 .grid_16 { width: 100%; }If you are OK with hiding the post metadata on pages that list multiple post (home, categories, tags, archives) then you can use the following instead of either of the above two options.
.box { display: none; }Give the above a try, as you see fit and see what you think.

The post metadata could also be moved over and below the titles, but because titles can vary in length (1, 2, 3 lines, etc.) this is problematic in a CSS only solution.
The post metadata can be narrowed using the following (it was 220px originally).
.content-bar .post .box, .content-bar .page .box { width: 180px; } -
Thank you guys. Yeah I kinda figured it wasn’t gonna work. I had a theme before that only had the excerpts, it was a nuisance to keep adding a feature image. I also purchasing the CSS upgrade previously and managed to do small changes but I kept getting glitches. What a shame though, I kinda liked the simple interface. It was also expensive :/
Oh well… thanks :)
