Inherited WP site – displaying posts

    I have recently taken over a site for a client, built completely using WP.
    The site currently doesn’t have a traditional ‘blog’ page but the client wants this feature.
    I want to display posts on a new ‘news’ page.
    I can create posts and pages but at present the posts do not display on any of the pages.
    Looking at support section, posts display on the index.php page by default, but this page is set up as a general home page for the site.
    Can anyone tell me how to do this?
