Insecure Website
-
Hi! I am a writer, not a web designer. Unfortunately. I’ve been trying for weeks now to create my first website, and I seem to be failing. My site in ‘Not Secure’, regardless of the SSL/plug-ins I’m uploading. I have tried so many different bits of advice in a variety of forums, and still I cannot make this work. I’d simply like a website that I can use to blog weekly. I have close to 100 friends who’ve gone to my site and then backed away when they receive the ‘Not Secure’ warning. (This is, if they are able to access it at all.) I know nothing whatsoever about code or anything else, so please don’t be too terribly technical in your reply. Can anyone please, PLEASE help me?

What is the full address of the site in question? Perhaps it isn’t hosted here at WordPress.com? Here creating a Site/Blog is childs play and all sites have SSL and padlocks displayed.

Hi there,
While it doesn’t sound like your site is hosted with us (you created this account only two days before this forum thread, and it only owns an empty free site), the issue here is most likely that you have some insecure content embedded on your site.
In other words, even though your site itself loads over HTTPS, there’s some content on the site that’s loading over HTTP, usually an image hotlinked from somewhere else, or content that’s embedded via HTML code you got from a third-party website.
So check your site for anything like that, and remove it. If that doesn’t help, contact support at your hosting provider and make sure your SSL certificate is correctly configured, or else ask the WordPress.org community for advice at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
