Insert a download
-
Can anyone tell me how i can put a download on my blog?? I want to put an e-book on my blog to download, but really don’t have too much of an idea of how to do it??

Upload the PDF as if it were an image. Then get the URL of the uploaded PDF and link to it from within a post or page or in the sidebar.

So if it is an e-book i haven’t yet downloaded, i download it, then upload to file as a PDF and there will be the link?? How do i get the URL of the uploaded PDF?? What do i do if i want a picture of the e-book, with the download link within the picture when you click on it??
Thanks

After uploading, click on the button called “file URL” and the URL of the file will show in the field above it.
You will also have to upload the image of the ebook, then you will insert it into the image, but first you will paste the URL of the e-book PDF into the “link URL” field, then click on “insert into post (or page).

When i press file URL as you state above, the field above it just reads File URL, is that correct or should it actually be a URL?? Becuase I am struggling to link the image and PDF together, it’s not working for me at the moment

Go to the media library then (from the links above the editor icon bar) find the document and click the “show” link to the right. The URL should show up there.

As for linking to the PDF via an image:
You go to your post editor, click the “Add an Image” icon, click “Choose files to upload”, select the image, once it’s uploaded click “File URL” if the URL doesn’t show up,* select size and alignment (also add a caption, if you wish), click “Insert into post”. Then (in the html post editor) replace the first URL of the image code with the PDF URL.
* You can go to Settings>Media and set “Default media links” to “File”, so that for future uploads the file URL will always show up automatically.
