Insert a photo in a page where there already is another photo.
-
Both photos have different caption texts. I reduced the size of photo 1 (it was about 640×400) by clicking on the minus sign, then inserted photo 2 (same size). The caption of photo 2 is correct. Then I reduced (minus sign) photo 2 and … the caption became equal to the photo 1 caption! I can’t believe it! It’s my first attempt to insert something in WordPress! And of course I need a different caption for every photo.

Hi @riverflow50, I can see you have four images, two of which are the same image. Two are large and two are small. All four have different captions. I can’t quite tell what you have in mind, but we’d can help once we sort that out. What changes need to be made to the current setup?
-
No, not all four have different captions. The 1st and the 2nd have the SAME captions, but are not the same image! The 2nd and the 3rd are the SAME image but the 2nd is the 3rd reduced using the “-” button. When I reduce the image, the caption becomes equal to the first. I hope it’s clear. You should read carefully the first post here. I said exactly the same thing.
Now I will try to reduce the 3rd image… I did it! Now I have 3 images with the same caption, but only the first really is an Armstrong-Siddeley, while 2nd and 3rd are the same Bentley (and the original captions said this). I inserted another Bentley image original size just to compare it.
It seems too trivial, this problem. I’m using Google Chrome, is there any incompatibility? The images have been resized and added caption with Google Picasa. -
I got it! I tried with Microsoft Edge and the button box is different from the one that appears using Chrome. There is a pencil button to modify, that opens a dialog box where I can accurately setup image size and caption and fortunately DOES NOT change the caption when I update the image size!
Of course, such a stupid problem couldn’t be WordPress fault.
However I will check if Chrome last update works better. Thank you everybody. -
I updated Chrome today, but nothing changed. If I insert more than one image, the second takes the caption of the first. Chrome version is 50.0.2661.102 m.
That’s all I can do. -
@riverflow50 ahah! I’ve duplicated the issue here too now, <strike>and will report it</strike> found its report.
– I added a photo and added a caption
– I added another photo and another caption
– I resized the second photo, and it took on the first photo’s caption
In the meantime, as a workaround and as a feature you might like anyway, can you try adding the images as a gallery instead? Go to Add Media and select a few images. Pick any of the layouts except Individual Images. Click edit to modify the captions, then insert your gallery. In some galleries, the captions show up when you mouse over the image.
