"Insert edit link OR LINK TO EXISTING CONTENT"

When I click that icon for entering the destination URL, there is that usual space for adding the link, but I am unclear about the part below that says: “Or link to existing content.”

I see that I can toggle to other posts I have written, but then if I select to do that, I lose the ability to enter the URL of the post itself.

How is that feature used? I know that I can use it but am not sure how. Feel kinda slow for not getting it…..

It’s a search box. You type in a keyword and the related posts will appear below in the display your currently see. Scroll to “Easier Internal Linking” here > http://en.blog.wordpress.com/2010/11/19/linking-sorting-paging/

Oh.. I think I understand…. So this is only about linking other posts I have posted to the one I am posting now.

Thank you. I hope I am understanding this right. I might do an experiment just to see…

OK, now here is a new related question on how to use that link:

So far, I have to type out some text which I want to make into an active link. Then I have to type out the title of the previous post which I want to put in the new post.. Then I click/select the post that I want linked to the new post and then I click “Add Link.”

However/But: Is there an easier way to get the name/title of that new link to show up on the newest post?

I would like to be able to put my cursor where I want the link to be, and then toggle to find that link, and then click “Add Link,” and then have the complete name/title of that post appear, without me having to type it on beforehand.

Correction: That first paragraph should read:

So far, I have to type out the title of the previous post that I want linked to the new post. Then I click/select the post in the toggle/selection box. Then I click “Add Link.”

I’m sorry but I believe this is a what you have is what you get situation as far as I can see.

Timethief, that’s ok!! I don’t mind doing it if that is the way it was meant to be done. I just didn’t want to be making extra steps unnecessarily.

I think that it is a great feature. All the new features are quite a good deal for bloggers.

    Thanks again for answering.
