insert link but not to a URL or post

    I want to highlight the names of two people mentioned in my post so that reader can click on it to see short bio, publications etc. just like in wiki.
    All I can find is how to link to a website.
    Or another post. do I have to write a new post called notes, or just write actual footnotes at the bottom of the post?
    I’m sure it should be possible – almost everything I read on line has this! Perhaps I don’t know what it’s called.

    Easiest – make a Page for each author and link to the page – works just like a web site – you could also write a new Post for each author – the Post for the author would probably be a bit easier.

    Then if you can’t hide the Pages use a Custom menu to let you hide the pages

    I’m sorry, but I have not understood this reply.
    I am a complete beginner with this and I don’t see the connection btween a “menu” and a footnote, or what is meant by”hiding” pages.
    Are there groups or classes for people like me?
    I live in New York.
