Insert link not working

  I am using Firefox. When I’m writing a new post or editing one, I can’t insert a link. This is in visual mode, as I have never learned html or any coding. I press the insert link button, I get the pop-up window where I insert the link adress, but when I click the saving button in the pop-up window, I’m redirected to the list of posts at my blog, without any changes being made to the post. This has been a problem for a few days.

  The site linked to your name ( tarald.net ) does not appear to be hosted on WordPress.COM, this site is for support of sites hosted on WordPress.COM. You should address your questions to WordPress.ORG the keepers of the software you are using: http://wordpress.org/support/

  You are also using an older version 2.8.5 of WordPress and should consider upgrading.

  I am having exactly the same issue as described in the first post. The options for linking to another page in your blog has been upgraded or changed lately, and no longer works. I am no longer able to link headings in my index to their relevant pages anymore (see the last entry on page 12 of the index). When I have highlighted the line on the index and clicked on the Insert Link, it redirects me to the new options – I have entered the information as indicated in the help function. As soon as I hit update, I am redirected to the same place as mentioned above, and nothing is saved.

  Please tell us which browser and version of it your are using and try this troubleshooting technique > http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/

  Is your Flash up to date? http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
  If not update here > http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/

  Have you tried using another browser?

  Have you tried switching to the HTML editor and clicking “link” and then entering the link that way?

  I will update my profile soon. My blog address is http://framandkar.wordpress.com/
  So it is hosted at wordpress.com. I have tried another computer and have the same problem there. I use mozilla firefox 3.6.12.
  Switching to the html editor worked. Thanks!

  Thanks for the help timethief.

  I switched to HTML and managed to do it that way.

  I use Firefox 3.6.13 (latest update) and have the latest version of Flash loaded too.

  I didn’t try another browser – will try that out next time to see if it makes a difference.

  You know, I’m on FF 3.6.13 on Mac and as long as I save the post manually before adding any links it works fine for me. It seems finicky unless I manually save the post first.

  {shrugs}
