"insert link/remove link" buttons greyed out

The “insert link” and “remove link” buttons on my Write Post and Edit Post Dashboard areas no longer function. (I’m a Premium user, if that helps?) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Those icons are supposed to have grey backgrounds. What happens when you attempt to use them?

I was referring to the icons in the classic post editor. I don’t know what “Write Post” is? Which website are you referring to? Is it a WordPress.com site?

You have to select the relevant text you want to link to first and highlight it and then the links icons will become active.

Be aware that using click here is the worst possible choice of anchor text. The best possible choice of anchor text is the relevant keyword or keyword phrase or the title of the post. More here http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2014/05/22/relevant-anchor-text-matters/

First make sure you are running one of the browser versions found here > http://browsehappy.com or upgrade to one of them.

Then consult the guide for creating links in posts and pages: http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/

This is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text here

This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.

1. Enter the relevant descriptive anchor text you want to link to first. Note that “here” is not a good choice.
2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

P.S. Premium upgrades apply to blogs not to users and in this case no upgrade has any relevance.

For embedding links in post and pages this is the general link model:
Highlighted anchor text here

This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked here in the forum.
Highlighted anchor text here

Note: It’s the same situation if you are removing a link. Highlight the link first then click the break link icon.
