Insert media from url not working properly.
-
When I looked at the WordPress article explaining how to insert media from url it displayed the picture attached to the url address inserted. However when I use the ‘insert from url’ form it just gives a hyperlink.
Suggestions? The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It doesn’t appear that you have published the post or page so that we can examine what you have done. What is the url of the image you want to use?

Here’s the image url: http://www.flickr.com/photos/boo-bah/9036076343/.
Also I tried to embed it using the html code flickr provides (<img src=”https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2888/9036076343_af337dd933_b.jpg” width=”1024″ height=”683″ alt=”Kallsjön02″>) and in the post preview it simply displays the html code with no picture. -

Thanks a lot anzartone. I guess you just cut that out of the flickr generated html embedding code and that’s the way to do it in the future!

If you are using flickr to host your WordPress.com site’s images, please also look at their ToS which requires a link back to flickr when posting elsewhere.
Rather than inserting media via URL, you may want to have a look at this Support doc http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/flickr-photos/
Having said that, I am not fond of posting to my WordPress.com site from flickr because the image is immediately posted (and publicized) but without the added benefit of adding tags/categories, etc.
One other method which has been around for awhile is oembed. You copy the URL of your flickr photo on flickr (what you originally posted above), paste that into a new post in WordPress.com and then unlink it. This will embed the largest possible image in your post and automatically link it back to flickr. A fuller explanation here: http://wp.me/s8gVp-flickr
