Insert Media Not Uploading Images
-
Hello
At the moment when I try to insert my Jpeg images into my blog article, by clicking ‘insert into post’ on my Insert Media page, I get a message that states: Error, an error occurred in the upload. Please try again later.
I have tried to Log in and out, use a different internet server and to give WordPress long intervals before retrying, but I am still getting this Error Message.
Could you pls tell me how I can fix this problem and what the problem is exactly?
Biki

Are you using the New Post button here https://wordpress.com/post/ or the post editor in the main dashboard to create posts? Staff has advised us to use the post editor in the main dashboard instead, as the New Post button is undergoing some changes and is unreliable at present, including adding images: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/where-did-the-add-media-button-go?replies=2#post-1927520
Go to your blog’s main dashboard (http://myfashionslashlife.wordpress.com/wp-admin/) and create a new post by clicking on Posts ->Add New in the sidebar menu. You’ll find creating posts this way is much more stable and provides many more options for making it look exactly like you want. http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/new-post-screen/ Existing posts you can edit by going to Posts ->All Posts and clicking the Edit link under the post title.
See here to insert images using the Add Media button in the post editor: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/adding-images-to-posts-or-pages/
You can also try clearing your browser’s cache and cookies and see if that helps: http://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/ , and make sure your flash player is updated.

Thanks for your response.
I am using the New Post button and the problem is on this particular blog post, i have spent over an hour writing the text and uploading images. The Error message only began to show when I was half way through the article. So at the moment i am unable to start a new post via the Post Edit way, as that will mean I have to discard the work I have done on the post thus far.
I have refreshed my cache, my flashplayer is updated is there anything else i can do to stop the Error sign coming up on the New Post button article, so I can complete the article?
Thanks

As I said, the New Post button is incredibly glitchy. If you had managed to save a draft you can continue editing it at Posts ->All Posts in the dashboard. Else, I’d recommend copying it (highlight and Ctrl-C), starting a new post in the main post editor (you can open it in a new tab) and pasting it (Ctrl-V) there before continuing.

Thank you, as you advised, I just went to my main Dashboard, went to the side bar and clicked ‘Add New’; I then tried to upload an image and I am still getting the same Error Message, and no image is uploading.
I.e I am still getting the same message and problem, I had got initially when I went to the main Dashboard, clicked on ‘New’ and then on arrow that says ‘Post’.
Could you pls tell me if I have any options now to write a post that can take images on WordPress from my PC?

I don’t know what else could be causing this. I’ll tag this thread for staff to follow up. Please be patient while waiting for them to respond.

Hi Biki,
I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having adding images. Could you try testing it by uploading a very small image to see if that works?
Also, do you get the same error if you try to upload the images using a different browser? If you need, you can download the latest versions of popular browsers here: http://browsehappy.com/
@kokkieh – The issues described in the forum thread you linked to in your first reply have been resolved, and we’re no longer recommending that users bypass that new post page. Instead, if anyone is having trouble adding media there, we’d like to investigate that issue so we can fix it. :)

On a sidenote, on the Sidebar of the page I just went to ‘Upload Media’, ‘Add new’ and got this message- Howdy!
Looks like you have used 3.0 GB of your 3.0 GB upload limit (100%). Since you are close to your limit, you might want to consider purchasing a Space Upgrade.
With the upgrade, you’ll also be able to upload mp3, m4a, wav, and ogg audio files (great for podcasting).
Did you know that you can upload videos and embed them directly on your blog with our VideoPress upgrade?
I don’t know if this has anything to do with the problem I’m facing but I am hoping the WordPress Staff can assist me with this too. Thanks

Hi Biki,
Thanks for mentioning that! I forgot to check the available space on your blog. That is why you’re getting the error message when you try to upload more images.
Once you reach that 3.0 GB limit for files you’ve uploaded to your blog, you’ll need to purchase a Space Upgrade if you’d like to upload more. (If there are files in your media library that you aren’t using on your blog, you can also delete those to make more space. However, don’t delete files that you’re using on your blog — that will delete them from the blog, too. Also, keep in mind that deleting files from your media library is permanent and can’t be undone.)
Please let me know if you have any questions about that. :)

Hello
Thank you both for your response.
I do have a question regarding the images- I dont want to purchase a Space Upgrade, I want to delete the existing image files in my ‘Add Media’ section, I believe thats what you mean by media library?Pls let me know if I am doing this correctly, as I dont want to delete images from blog posts I have already published: what i am doing is, I go to Add Media, then click on image I want to delete, then text comes on the right hand side of page that states ‘Delete permanently’ and I click that- is this the correct way to lessen my 3.0GB space?
Secondly when I preview my Draft article, some of the images are showing as blank pictures with ‘????????????????????????????’ written across: why is this?
Thanks for the help.

You’re following the right procedure to remove images from the library, but please keep in mind what @rachelmcr said: If you delete an image from the library it will also automatically disappear from all posts where you used it. You can also go to Media ->Library in the sidebar on the dashboard and delete images directly from there without needing to open each one.
If you don’t want to purchase a space upgrade there are some workarounds. One is to start uploading your photos elsewhere, like a Picasa web album or a Flickr account, and insert them into your blog via URL. Another is if you uploaded high resolution images to replace them with lower res images that take up less space. But that’s only going to make a difference if the resolution of the uploaded image is much higher than the actual display size of the image on the blog and it’s very hard work. You can see this thread where I explained to someone else how to do it: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/do-i-have-to-keep-images-in-the-media-library-for-them-to-appear-on-my-blog?replies=3
I’ve no idea what could be causing the question marks.

Ok , I followed your advice and now deleting images from the left side bar option.
Regarding the ??????’s, I just deleted those photos and replaced them.
It seems to be ok now, thanks to both of you for your prompt responses, I really appreciate it. My blog is my baby and it was a stressful situation initially. Thanks, Biki
