"Insert read more tag" not working
-
After you changed the editor interface, and removed several features, including the very useful “insert text from word” button, my “Insert read more tag” button has stopped working. When I click it, it places the “insert read more” line at the end of the blog post instead of at the location I want it to appear.
Is this another example of haphazard WordPress changes, which are implemented without proper thought of their consequences? This is getting really tiring.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m having a problem too. instead of putting the break at the end of the word I choose. it’s putting it at the end of the paragraph. As I use the Visual theme and like to keep things balanced it’s really messing up the look of my blog. I hope they change it back to how it was.

Creating additional threads will not get Staff help more quickly and in fact it will have the opposite effect. Return to that thread and do not create others. -
You must be joking. You chastise us for not having detected a one-line post that mentions this issue in passing? Do you think we have time to scan the entirety of the thousands of posts that appear here every day?
I asked a specific question about a critical issue that, incidentally, remains unresolved. Do you, or anyone at WordPress, have an answer about this issue? If so, share it. If not, kindly leave this thread alone.

You’re right Intelligencenews.
Like AllFerrari, I’m having a problem too. instead of putting the break at the end of the word I choose. it’s putting it at the end of the paragraph. The update is a problem, for those who, like me, absolutely requires the function More Tags (which worked before). -
I think the comment was for me, this being the first time I’ve used the Forum I started another thread, It’s seems that’s wrong!
I don’t know all the rules. But I do know I’d like it sorted and soon. -

@allferrari
That’s good news. You’re also correct. I was addressing you and you’re welcome. -
Thanks for letting us know. This bug was reported a few days ago and has since been fixed. It sounds like everything is working for you now, but please let us know if you have any other issues with this.
-
@jackiedana: Negative. My blog is still experiencing said issue. My earlier description applies. Please advise.
-
@intelligencenews I’m not able to reproduce the issue with the More tag using Chrome or Firefox, on a PC or Mac. If you are still having this issue on your site, please be sure to clear your cache. If that doesn’t help, when you next run into this issue on a draft post, could you please let me know the title of the post so I can take a look?

Hi and thanks. I have PC and use Chrome and Mathon, but the tag more not work again. Instead of putting the break at the end of the word I choose. it’s putting it at the end of the paragraph. I have clear my cache, but the problem persist in all my new post in planned

Thanks but If you look my blog I have place the tag more always in the same way, before the recent changes… Before, I had no problem.
-
@jakciedana: the “more” tag is now working on my blog. Thank you. For future reference, it would be nice if WordPress would iron out these issues before haphazardly implementing changes to the authoring process.

@intelligencenews
We blog on the guinea platform for all WordPress upgrades here at WordPress.COM. About a month before new WordPress upgrades are made available to WordPress.ORG users they are implemented here. The feedback from our experience goes through Support Staff AKA Happiness Engineers to the developers. The developers fix any breakage and tweak the code until it works well. Then the upgrades are made available to WordPress.ORG self hosting users. -
@timethief: The Happiness Engineer that contributed to this thread definitely made me happy by getting whoever is responsible for coding to fix my problem. So the title is well deserved. I guess we need to start thinking about upgrading to the .ORG platform so we won’t have to worry about such breakages in the future.
