Inserted Image from Reader not attached to post

When you insert an image into a post in the Reader, the image is not attached to the post. Is this intended? Why is it different than inserting an image into a new post from the Dashboard where the image is attached?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You do not insert anything in the Reader. The Reader is strictly for reading and what’s displayed is beyond the control of us bloggers. The intended behavior for a post with an embedded video is to prioritize the video for the featured image, and over a regular image. The only post formats where this doesn’t happen are Gallery and Image formats.

I don’t know what you are seeing but if I am logged in to WordPress.com and I am on the main page of my blog (If I understand correctly, this is referred to as the “Reader”.), there is a link in the upper right part of the window that says “New Post”. If I click on that link and click “Text” for the question “What would you like to post?”, an editor window is displayed allowing me to create a new post. From this window if I click on “Insert Photo”, I can upload an image (not a video) into the post. The image also goes into the Media Library. If I then “Publish” the post and to to the Media Library, the image that was uploaded will be listed as “Unattached”. My question then is why is this different from adding a new post and inserting an image from the Dashboard? If done from there, the image is shown as “Attached” to the post. My question has nothing to do with a video.
