Insert/edit link feature no longer working
-
Hello. I hope i explain my problem well enough to get some help. It seems I can no longer change a Link URL that I add to my blog posts when using the Visual Insert/edit link feature. I add whatever particular link I want people to go to, change the target to a new window and then type in the Title name I want the Link URL to read, but after hitting insert it doesn’t change to what I typed in the Title box like it use to. In other words if the link is http://www.buybooksontheweb.com/Search.aspx?kw=why%20i%20pray%20in%20the%20shower&typ=Titlea and I want it to simply read bbotw.com for the viewer to click it simply no longer changes, but remains the long URL link and doesn’t look very nice. This feature worked fine until a few weeks ago. I’m very frustrated and any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Awhile ago I ran into that problem and figured out instead of trying to use the visual editor, I switched it to the html editor and it works better that way. Try switching to the html editor to see if that works for you.

Hi there. I did try it through the html, but I’m not sure how to change the Title that way. It’s weird how this problem with the Insert/edit link suddenly came about.

How I do it on HTML is click link, allow scripted windows, click link again, put the http address in, click okay then I go and add the name that I want seen, then hit close tags, then (LOL) move over to the visual screen and you will no longer see that long web address just whatever you typed in as the name of the link.

Ok I’ll try it, but for me it begs the question” how do I allow scripted windows?” lol. Seriously though let me know how to do this so I can see if it works for me. Thanks.

I allow scripted windows by hitting the yellow bar that pops up at the top of my browser and click “allow scripted windows. Do you get that yellow bar?

Your a genius! lol. I must admit it took a few attempts before I got the hang of it, but I did it. lol. I usually use Firefox, but IE will be fine whenever I need to do this again. I wonder though what the problem is? Hopefully a fix for it is out there somewhere. Thanks again and let me know you saw this.

I don’t use FF but I am sure someone here can tell you how it’s possible in FF. I’ve just never had any problems with IE although a lot of people do, I just haven’t had any. It takes a bit of getting used to adding links and html but after awhile it becomes second nature.
Not a problem, I am so happy I could help you out! :) -
You did help me and once again thank you I am very grateful for it. I did at least figure out how to make the link open in another window without bothering you. lol. See ya.
