Inserting a figure into a blog post
-
I want to insert a bmp to add a figure to my blog post. I have composed it in Word with the bmp inserted, and when I copy it into the window on the blogsite, the bmp does not “transfer”. How can I embed the figure in my post?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m afraid that you will need to convert that bmp to one of these file formats:
- jpg/jpeg
- gif
- png
We’ve got a support page on uploading images to your WordPRess.com site’s Media Library here:
If the image already exists somewhere on the internet, you may be able to use these instructions to insert it into your post:
Take a look through those pages and let me know if you have any further questions. I’ll be happy to help.

I’m not trying to upload images to a media library or capture images off the web, I am trying to copy a Word file with an image embedded into the WordPress publishing window to create a blog piece. So if the image I insert is a jpeg, then it will copy into the window? Thanks.

You need to upload an image to your medial library (or link to one existing already on the web) if you wish to use it in your WordPress post. Images don’t operate the same way as text when you copy and paste them. Copying and pasting doesn’t transfer the actual data that makes up the image. It just copies, for lack of a better term, the reference within the Word document that tells Word to display the image.
To upload an image to your media library, follow these instructions here:
Once you have your image uploaded, follow these instructions to insert it into your post:
