inserting a photo in the right place

How do I put the photos into a blog and get them to appear in the right place? I cant seem to get the text to wrap round and some of the photos have linked up together ~ is there a way of spacing them?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

The blog linked to your username has only one post with one image. If you’re talking about a different blog, we need its URL.

its still in draft form ~ it doesnt look very good so i hesitate to publish it ~ im trying to sort it out beforehand

same format though ~ using spectrum.

do i need to publish for you to see what i mean?

i just need to know if there is a way of placing the photos within the text.

    thanks for replying.

    You’re welcome.
Yes you need to publish it and tell us exactly what you’d like to change: “placing the photos within the text” is too vague, and “some of the photos have linked up together” doesn’t make sense.

    ok, thank you.

it may be that im using the wrong theme for what i want to do, as you will gather i am new to this!!!

i will put it on as it is and you will see what i mean, hopefully.

Its on now, I see that in the draft photos maybe butted up to each other but when published this doesnt happen ~ I found the preview helpful ~ however, I still cant put text beneath the photos ~ not a caption, i mean further writing for the blog.

Is there a way to put on one photo, say on the left and then text on the right? If so how do i do this please?

    thanks again for your help

    Make both images alignleft,
then in the html editor put this code break code below the image codes:

    TEXT_HERE
    <a href="http://IMAGE_CODE_etc</a><a href="http://IMAGE_CODE_etc</a>
    <br style="clear:both;" />
    MORE_TEXT_HERE

The image code might take up several lines, but there should be no line break between them.

You can then adjust the horizontal space to make the pictures look centered with some space between them.

And you are correct about the Visual Editor not showing exactly how your published post will look: it’s the same editor used by all themes with various widths and CSS so it’s now possible for it to show exact spacing and so on just for your theme.

I always select all, copy, the save a draft to check the preview.

typo alert : not possible for it to show exact spacing and so on just for your theme.

    thanks 1tess,
when i am editing, the pictures are showing ~ how do i find the code for them?

also, where do i find the ‘html’ editor??

sorry, i have spent quite a while trying to find this out but in the end i gave up and came on here
    thanks for helping

copying and saving the draft is a useful tip ~ thank you.

You should see a link to the HTML Editor on the top left of your editing module.

(yeah, I lost a few posts via glitches before I realized how easy it is to copy and save—power-failure, loss of internet, gremlins—it happens…)

If the html is too scary, you don’t have to look at it for long.
You can insert your pictures via the visual editor and be sure they are aligned left. Then all you need do is paste the break code after them in html. Best to start typing the subsequent text while in the html editor as well. Sometimes one can’t tell exactly where the cursor is in the visual editor.

Here is a picture of where to choose visual or html editors:

    cant see that sorry,
its got the dashboard stuff down the left hand side and the title is ‘Edit Post’

am i in the wrong part of the site???

yes finding the cursor is a problem, that was one of my queries!

when you say the break code ~is that:

    <br style=”clear:both;” />

  • Unknown's avatar

Yes, that is the break code.

I’m blushing sorry because the editor selection is on the right-hand side like in the picture. Sometimes I’m dyslexic. I’m bad with directions…

BTW, did you mean to have the first part of your post aligned left and the later part justified?

  • Unknown's avatar

aha found the html bit now, thank you!

  • Unknown's avatar

    dont worry i got there!

I think i was trying out a few things so it probably isnt aligned correctly at this stage, i just got stuck!!

  • Unknown's avatar

    Gremlins! I zapped the duplicates…

As for finding the cursor when using the visual editor (not for this break code), but when I started out, I’d type in some random letters ;lknjh then insert the image(s) above them. Then when it came time to type more of the post, I could go to the end of the ;lkjpi and know where the cursor was.

  • Unknown's avatar

ok will try to do that!!

not as easy as using ‘word’ is it!!

    hopefully i will get there

    thanks again Tess
