Inserting a video into side menu widget
-
I had a couple of YouTube videos embedded into the side menu widget, and I was trying to add another one, but the ‘Insert from URL’ function doesn’t seem to recognize my URL as a video. ( https://youtu.be/dO2Z3S-ovtE )
I tried to replace one of the older videos with the new one, but same error occurs.
I tried to insert a different video. (with no dashes in the URL), but still no luck. Please help.

Hello @konstantinyushkevich,
Quoting a staff member staff-doublebassd responding to a similar query like yours in the forum earlier today:
You are correct, this is a known bug that has been reported:
Here is the full link to this forum thread:

Quoting the below passage from the adding youtube videos support page:Depending on the location of your theme’s widget areas, you can also embed YouTube videos in your sidebar or footer by copying and pasting the shortcode into a Text Widget. You will need to use this format:

Hi there,
This is a bug with the widget. We’re looking into it, but please use the text widget option instead for now.
@mywritingmuscle, the GitHub issue you link to is an old bug that was fixed some time ago, and is not related to the current issue which is being tracked somewhere else as per my comment at the bottom of that issue.
