Inserting Animated .GIF

How can I insert an animated gif into a post or page? I read that it must be inserted at full size so it I have done that, but it won’t animate unless it is opened in a new page at full screen. I have been trying to use Bold News and twenty eleven so far.

I have been trying to get a large image “slider” at the top of my home page. I can’t seem to find a theme with a slider that works well, so I thought creating a Gif would be better.

As you can probably tell I am pretty much lost right now so any help would be great. Thanks

An animated gif won’t work unless inserted in real size. The “Full Size” option you can select when inserting an image doesn’t necessarily mean real size, it means as wide as the theme allows: if the actual file is wider, it gets downsized to fit, so it loses the animation.
If you wish, you can paste the URL of the gif here so we can check it.

That makes sense. It isn’t really working but do you of any other way to have images rotate across a home page? I need it to be pretty big and the regular slideshow is too small. I tried embedding a slideshow from slideshare.com and that was too small too haha I am stuck

I just need something large that will rotate images automatically. Doesnt have to link to another page or anything. Any ideas?

    1) What I wrote above doesn’ mean you can’t use a gif, it means you have to create a gif in the right dimensions. For Bold News with no sidebar, that’s 940 pixels wide maximum.

    2) The problem with the WP slideshow is that it ignores the fact that you have removed the sidebar: it constrains images to the width that’s right for the sidebar layout, so you get all that useless grey border.

    3) You could perhaps use Webshots, if you don’t mind the control buttons at the bottom. See here:
