Inserting Facebook 'like' buttons on my blog
-
I am trying to insert Facebook ‘like’ buttons into my blog. I cannot find the option which lets me access the header php file – in my admin page, there is no ‘editor’ option under the ‘appearance’ submenu. I don’t know how to add this as a plug-in. I have the basic plan, does this make a difference? Thanks
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Here are the various ways to incorporate Facebook with your blog on the free plan: https://en.support.wordpress.com/facebook-integration/
Plugins are a feature only supported on our Business plan. Those details are at wordpress.com/pricing/
Let me know if you have any other questions about this information.

Hi
Thanks for this information, however, it’s not quite what I’m looking for. I would like to insert a Facebook ‘like’ button in all my blog posts. The instructions are here: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-facebook-like-button-in-wordpress/
and also here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XCq475GzyR0
But I don’t have the ‘editor’ option under my ‘appearance’ submenu on the WP admin page – so that’s where I’m stuck!Could you help?
Thanks

You are stuck because you are reading instructions that apply to wordpress.ORG software installs on paid hosting. Many people confuse wordpress.COM hosted sites with wordpress.ORG software installs. Please read https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Hi
Thanks for this. Does this mean that I can’t insert the FB ‘like’ buttons, or that there is another way of doing it?
Thanks

@nazpaan Hello :)
To answer your last question,
Does this mean that I can’t insert the FB ‘like’ buttons, or that there is another way of doing it?
In a free WordPress.com plan, no you can’t. However, from reading the response by staff-zinnia, the route you can go, if you specifically want the Facebook “like” button, is to upgrade to a Business Plan.
With the free plan, you can still use Widgets to connect Social Media to your blog, as @lizarkoski also provided links for, but they are not for the “like” button which you require an upgrade to do.
Hope that clarified it a bit more :)

Good morning everyone –
nazpaan – I will leave this thread open in case you have any trouble integrating Facebook, or have other questions.

As timethief mentioned, the material you were reading was for the self hosted version of WordPress that you install – that’s different than what we do here at WordPress.com.
Read over the link shared by timethief for further details about those differences.
Anytime you’re searching for information, be sure you use “WordPress.COM” in your search criteria. All of the WordPress.com support guides are found via https://en.support.wordpress.com.
