Inserting html into basic WordPress site – Can't do it :(

  • Unknown's avatar

    I run a website

    https://cognitasresearch.wordpress.com

    which is hosted on the public WP site from what I can see. This means that I have limited ability to change things with regards to plugins etc.

    How do I insert raw html into the page I am trying to create so that I can have a number of Amazon associate links (books relevant to my research)?

    I have tried inserting

    <iframe style=”width:120px;height:240px;” marginwidth=”0″ marginheight=”0″ scrolling=”no” frameborder=”0″ src=”//ws-eu.amazon-adsystem.com/widgets/q?ServiceVersion=20070822&OneJS=1&Operation=GetAdHtml&MarketPlace=GB&source=ss&ref=ss_til&ad_type=product_link&tracking_id=cogniincidres-21&marketplace=amazon&region=GB&placement=0521314194&asins=0521314194&linkId=4FR2OYLIGERYZIFG&show_border=true&link_opens_in_new_window=true”>
    </iframe>
    into the ‘text view’ but it doesn’t parse correctly. It just shows a very long hyperlink.

    Is it possible with my version of WP? Or do I need to upgrade, move things over to a properly hosted package? My concern is that I have a large mailing list which I don’t know how to access or move and don’t want to loose that.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi cognitasresearch,

    You’ll need to link to your Amazon affiliate links using the text-only links.

    In Amazon.com, click on Link to this page on the navigation bar on top, then the Text Only tab, and copy the link from the 2. Preview box.

    Please be mindful of the WordPress.com Affiliate Policy while placing your links. Please feel free to post back if you have any further questions about this!
