Inserting HTML link in text is breaking the lines

Hi, I am trying to insert HTML links into my text and have done so on other blogs before with no trouble, but everytime I have tried on my new blog the link breaks the text and is inserted on a new line with an indent.
I have tried inserting link, both on the visual editor and HTML editor.
I am using the Eugene Tkachenko theme, and the text is running down the left hand side of an image.
Any help or suggestions on whats causing this and how to resolve it would be greatly appreciated.
