Inserting images using :before
-
I’m trying to insert some content into my blog by using Custom CSS and a “:before” selector. When I insert text, it works fine. When I try to insert an image using a URL, it doesn’t. Anyone know why this would be?
Also, I heard it suggested somewhere on this forum that it isn’t a good idea to use “:before” and “:after” tags. Is that true?
Thanks.

I’m sure someone with techincal skills will respond to this eventually but I’d like to suggest that while you’re waiting if you think you saw something on the subject in the forum you might like to try using the forum search box to locate the thread.

The thread I was referring to was:

I posted a question there about why someone suggested that using “:before” and “:after” was bad. I’m still curious as to why my case isn’t working, however.
If anyone knows, please post here!
Thanks.

Not sure but I could have sworn that before and after tags were stripped from the CSS.
I’ll send in a feedback and see if we can get Andy or Podz to answer this one.

:before and :after are not supported by the majority browser on wordpress.com. IE still has >50% share.

You might have better luck with padding-left and background-image. For more/better help, be more specific. Post a markup example in backticks.
