inserting links into posts

    trying to insert a link into my post from an article on Yahoo News which includes a video am following the instructions but it is saying that the page isn’t available, can’t find any help on this anywhere – is there something that I’m missing, maybe about Yahoo ? – do they not allow that ? I tried to insert an alternative link on the same subject from BBC News Online but same thing happened, are there restrictions put up by these news organisations or is there something I’m not getting – Have followed the instructions on inserting links to the letter –

    thanks for getting back to me again timethief and so promptly – I have looked at the support docs. I’ve now tried to embed other links, text links etc and it seems I can’t embed any links at all – when you click on the link in the blog post is says ‘this webpage is not available’ any advice as to why this is happening ?

    The yahoo video is not supported. To post it use the Flash workaround.

    it doesn’t seem to allow me to link to any web-based articles at all ? (sorry am not getting this…???) It does allow me to link to my own website however which I did as a test but it won’t let me link to any articles. Am now trying to link to an article from ‘NHS Choices’ an NHS UK website but same problem

    This is the general link model:
    <a href="URL HERE">Highlighted anchor text here</a>
    This is the visual result – it’s not actually linked.
    Highlighted anchor text here

    1. Enter the anchor text you want to link to first.
    2. Then use your mouse to highlight that anchor text. (If you don’t highlight the anchor text the chain icon will remain grayed out and not be useable.)
    3. Next click the chain icon in the editor and proceed to create the link.

    I’ve read and re-read the support documents that you are referring to!!! I’ve already been following the steps 1. 2. and 3. that you’ve mentioned above diligently (countless times in fact and have tried to link to various different web pages as mentioned previously) it still stays ‘web page not available’!!!! my simple question that I would like answered is:
    does WordPress have restrictions on the type of webpages that I can link to ? (you told me previously about Yahoo and video – that was good to know – thank you). I cannot understand why I can’t link to these other pages but it is not happening for me!
