Inserting picture deleted all of post text

I’ve had this same issue on two consecutive posts. I’ve inserted or replaced an image while editing a post. When I hit “insert into post,” the only thing in the post is the image. All the text I typed disappeared. The first time I caught it and closed the post without saving. I was in too big a rush tonight and hit save and preview before I knew what happened. The whole post evaporated.
I’ve been posting pictures successfully for quite a while. It seems unlikely to me that I made the same mistake twice, somehow selecting the entire post and overwriting it with an image.
Has anyone else had this problem? (I apologize if this is an existing forum issue already resolved. I’m trying to retype my post before I forget the whole thing.)

Oops. Just found where the older versions of the post are still archived. Never needed that feature. Fantastic. Sorry for the bother.

In the Revisions module of the post editor. If you’re not seeing the Revisions module while on the post editor screen, click Screen Options (top right) to activate it.
In general avoid drafts. Safer method when preparing a new post: write a couple of lines, set the Visibility to private and publish the post, continue editing and updating, turn to public when finished.
