Inserting pictures in my blog

When using another blogging format of yours, an older one, I could pick the size of my image to fit the needs of my blog, small, medium or large. I cannot find how to do that currently. I am trying to insert a featured image that is either too large and therefore the image is cropped, or too small, and the image does not take up the space I need it to. Thanks for any help.
