Inserting publish date for a blog post @ different location than set theme

How to insert the BLOGt publish date, for a blog post at the very top of the blog post
(I.e. different location than set in the theme)/add additional date/time info that is easier to see/locate/view for that post. I.e. can I insert a date/HTML tag somehow?
And since the set date location is in the code for the theme, I have not been able to see or access it. (I’m currently using Shoreditch theme).
    Thanks.

  • Hi! I’m not sure I fully understand what you hope to do. Can you clarify what end result you’re going for?

Shoreditch uses page-based panels, so you could put the post in one of those if you wanted to. Or, you could link to it from the menu.

Not sure what isn’t clear here.

Shoreditch AUTO inserts (as part of the blog post structure/code), the date, time, author info, stupidly (I realized after having used it for a number of years..but I’m now just finally focusing on doing regular blog posts..& it’s now annoying AF to find that I can’t simply have the DATE INSERTED AT THE TOP),
AT THE BOTTOM of the post.

I can’t access the actual HTML/code for the theme..that I can find anywhere.
I have also gone thru all the widgets, & there is nothing, for this option.

I simply want to actually (auto insert, I.e. I have done this on BlogSpot) a DATE PUBLISHED <tag> that would display the DATE/TIME that post was published, at that location I want (I.e. the TOP/START of the post, which would be logical..so ppl can see/find when that post was made, at the start of the post..).
My blog posts tend to be long, so they’d have to literally scroll & scroll..to find that relevant info..(even me having to do that..is super annoying..)!

I don’t want to add whatever a page-based panel..as that sounds like you’re saying to NOT just the build in Blog Post structure that is the point of having/using a site/theme like this…???

  • Hi there,

The adjustments you’re describing can probably be done with some CSS code, but that’s not always the case. You can read more here:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/custom-design/custom-css/

Furthermore, the themes are designed in a specific way and you cannot edit them here on WordPress.com. To be able to edit a theme’s code you’ll need to upgrade to the Business plan and upload your pre-edited theme.
