Hi guys, I’m thinking of getting clients to join my blog as a member and having a ‘sign up’ page where they pay a membership fee and then a ‘sign in’ page once they’re a member to get into the blog. Also I just wanted my latest story on the front page for the general public to see before they sign up. My question is (1) is all this possible? (2) and how do you do it? Cheers!

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    1) not at WordPress.com

    2) you buy web hosting, install software from WordPress.org, add a theme, and use plugins to configure your new site the way you want. Then you export your content from here and import it to the new site. Then you set the WordPress.com site to private and change the nameservers so your domain name now points to your new site. Then you blog away on the new site.

    1) Not possible on WordPress.COM

    2) Get your own host and install the WordPress.ORG software on it – move your content from here to your new host – then make friends at WordPress.ORG – they have lots of Plug-ins for membership sites

You too. I’ll be mostly offline for the next week or so. Have fun on the weekend, when staff changes something fundamental, breaking some other function, and the forum fills with outraged and confused bloggers!
