Inserting text from a Powerpoint doc into a wordpress post
-
I am importing both text and images from a Powerpoint document into a WordPress post. I save the images as Jpegs to my hard drive and insert them into the WordPress post from there. That seems to work OK.
It’s inserting text that is causing problems. I have been copying the text from the Powerpoint doc, then going to the WordPress post and left click the browser at the point I want to insert the text. Then I use the “Text” icon to strip out any troublesome code. Two things. When I click the Text icon the usual drop down box with the text does not appear and when I press Control an d v, the text inserts but carries along the troublesome coding.
How should I insert text from a Powerpoint document into a WordPress post without carrying along these troublesome codes (I have not tried the Word icon, but have found the Text icon seems more general). Thanks,

Just a footnote to my question above: I have now tried making Powerpoint text insertions using the Word icon. The drop down box DOES appear and I seem to be able to make insertions (so far) using this method. I do note (looking at the resulting HTML code) that a great many <div> </div> codes are inserted as a result of this insertion. I’ve had trouble in the past when such codes are frequent, inserting paragraphing.
So I’m not sure, yet, whether I’m making these insertions of Powerpoint text as I should.

Thanks, Kardotim. I can’t send you the link to the piece I’m composing without giving out my user name and password.
This must be an easy one, too easy even for the wordpress “happiness engineers” to respond to. :-)
I’m currently using the Word icon to make my text insertions from a Powerpoint document and that works after a fashion. The problem is that it carries into the post a series of <div></div> codes that have to be stripped out to permit vertical paragraphing to hold.
I’m operational building this post, just sure that there’s a way in import without carrying in these undesired codes. Too much unnecessary work.
Thanks for your response.

Are you drafting this post on WordPress.com or elsewhere?
Note that the Word Cleanly is the icon you need to paste from Microsoft Word. It’s not designed to copy content from Powerpoint, but it might work. You can follow the instructions at:

The problem is only with inserting Powerpoint text. As I said, using the Word icon I can work around it ,but have to strip out a lot of <div></div> codes to get paragraphing to hold.
I’ll look at the link you’ve sent.
I’m amazed if this isn’t something folks encounter frequently.
Thanks,

Are you able to save the draft? so I can take a closer look at it?

I’ve copied a last part of the extent (also one image) that I’m working on and attempting to paste it into this email below.
Only the last line contains the troublesome <div></div> codes. I’ve stripped them out of the passages above.
The most successful designs in new floral style were placed in the most prominent parts of the mosque, large blue-ground visions of paradise designed by Kara Memi.
These panels showcase a large and dramatic scale, what was then the newly emergent floral vocabulary.
Rüstem Paşa had an significant role to play in the area of Ottoman artistic output, especially of textiles and ceramics, through acts of patronage and regulation that served two functions:
1. by restricting and regulating the import of Italian silks, and thus the outflow from the Ottoman realm of precious metals to pay for imported luxury fabrics, he improved the Ottoman balance of payments while at the same time giving new life to a native textile industry that had long been established in Bursa but which now increasingly began to flourish in Istanbul.
2. by curtailing the artistic influence of Italy in the realm of textiles, as well as by encouraging the development of the Iznik ceramic industry through massive commissions for the tile decoration of state-sponsored mosques and palaces.Rüstem Paşa helped to establish what in effect became the new Ottoman brand: the floral vocabulary pioneered and developed by his favorite artist, Kara Memi.

<div>Was this style a conscious choice by the court or developed unconsciously and was associated later with Ottomanness?</div>

The easiest and fastest solution would be removing the <div> codes manually.

Here’s the first part of the address code for the location where I am composing my post:

I think this suggests that I’m working in the first of your alternatives.
Is it very difficult to create a feature that would let one copy Powerpoint text into a word.press post? Isn’t there a lot of this going on? I would expect you’d get my question frequent.
Thanks,
John

Me: I’m too busy purging troublesome <div></div> codes from something I’d like to publish. :-)
