Inserting text on pages in box models or patted areas

  Hi all,

  My blog is http://expatguidetoafrica.wordpress.com/

  Have been searching this forum for days, but couldn’t find any topic under ‘css customization’ dealing with box models, as explained on http://www.w3schools.com/css/css_boxmodel.asp

  I’ve just copy-pasted the code from that site and dumped it on the top of my css editing screen (is that how you call it?) right above all the other css that I’ve copy-pasted and works fine, but my blog wouldn’t show any box. And I wonder if it’s even possible to divide a page up in ‘boxes’, in which you can give previews/descriptions of the other pages on the site.
  Anybody know this?

  And if it’s really impossible, is it perhaps possible to use paddings, so that it still seems like boxes? And can they be displayed next to each other?
